My hobbies and interests

Cooking	Absolutely. Mainly simple things that are tasty and with an appearance of elegance. One pot specials like paella, soups, pot roast, bacalhau a braz
Shopping	Love it. More the browsing and the stimulation of styles and colors and coming across something that just reaches out and grabs my attention.
DIY	Definitely DIY. Great satisfaction working with my hands.
Housework	Neat in my own style. Admit that Hoovering and dusting are least favorite things.
Dining out	Yes definitely. Besides the occasional home cooking Pub fare, experiences out of the ordinary that you have to search for. A menu with the usual sea bass, roast fowl, steak with some kind of sauce (£2.50 extra) is usually avoided. Something along the line of BBQ langoustines, basted with piri-piri butter, roast suckling pig, beef wellington, calves liver - rare, with mash and onion gravy.
Movies	Love film. A good laugh or thought provoking, romantic, period dramas. The Producers, The Deer Hunter, Pretty Women, The Commitments
Theatre	Enjoy a good night out at the theater. Musicals mostly. Was completely absorbed by the original Dream Girls on Broadway .
Music	Like music!!! Folk, pop, blues jazz , classical, tango arranged in a random/shuffle.
Gigs	A gig from time to time. Appreciate clubs and venues. Not really into the the stadium thing except the Michael J "Thriller" that was an overwhelming experience that my children dragged me to.
Pubs	Like a social ale. It is the company, not the drink that will bring my into a pub.
Clubbing	Ahhh.... afraid not. Too much heavy beat music, noise and alcohol and too little of the intimacy of conversation, pleasant tunes and "slow" dancing.
Newspapers and magazines	At least on of these a week: Independent, Sunday Washington Post, Economist, Vanity Fair, GQ
Books	Big reader. Currently -Life of Pi-. Got really into -100 Years of Solitude- at a time when I was in a foreign land and very much on my own.
TV	Occasionally. The Wire was good. Currently Mad Men. Documentaries, in depth review and reporting of world events, science and technology, history. Not into "fly on the wall" reality shows as they are very unreal to me. Occasionally will pick up a cooking show especially if it is a bit of a travelogue.
Watching sport	Definitely. Great appreciation for the skill and capabilities of human physical expression in sport.
Playing sport	5 aside football, squash
Hobbies	Mountain biking, a little rock climbing/abseiling/caving, acoustic guitar and harmonica (for me only), dancing: modern jive, Argentine tango, social ballroom.

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	Alive and active. In the company of trusted and loving friends.
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	Mark Twain, Katherine Hepburn, Colonel Sanders of KFC Fame
My ideal date	Easy going, smiles, laughter, eye contact. Anywhere, any place.
What would I never, ever give up?	A life with peace, joy and love. No matter what age life is too precious to waste until that time when I will know it is time to let go.
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	Let the good times keep rollin' on.
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	Impossible. Too many things.
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	Raising the human condition.
