I'm mostly interested in British culture and cultural history in all its forms i.e., music, film, architecture, theatre and movements.

At the moment I split my time between the study of British history and Buddhism.

In the past I have been employed in jobs as varied as a Quantity Surveyor, Offshore Roustabout, Hotel Concierge and drummer in a band.

I think I am an emotionally aware, kind and considerate person who has put off finding someone I can share my life with for far too long.

I would really like to find someone who is open to ideas about consciousness, energy and awareness (of both personal and the natural world). Somebody who embraces the natural world over the material, and who places a priority on human connections.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking	My repertoire is limited ...there is more repetition than I would like!
Shopping	My weak spot is Amazon's DVD section ...it just drags me in and before I know where I am, I'm pressing the Confirm Order button!
DIY	Have never had to do much of this to be honest ...I 've been fairly decent at it when I've had to though.
Housework	Put it this way ...I'm more OCD than slob - but I have it under control (I think).
Dining out	Not so much since I turned vegetarian last May, but I still enjoy the social side to dining out.
Movies	Yes, of course ...love all types apart from action and sci-fi I'm afraid.
Theatre	Love the theatre! I particularly like Oscar Wilde, Noel Coward, John Osborne, Tom Stoppard, Harold Pinter et al.
Music	I love all sorts of music but the leading lights of my collection are The Beatles, The Smiths, Scott Walker, Nick Drake Bob Dylan and jazz/rock heroes Steely Dan.
Gigs	Yes, I go to gigs but not so much massive concert affairs -I'm more into small jazz clubs and the like.
Pubs	Now I am teetotal I don't tend to go into bars ...but I wouldn't mind if it felt right at the time.
Clubbing	Yes, my clubbing days are behind me.
Newspapers and magazines	The Guardian and The New Statesman ...but not religiously.
Books	At the moment I'm reading a rather large history textbook and far too many pages on Wikipedia! I am also reading a collection of Alan Sillitoe's short stories too.
TV	I love Emmerdale and Corrie ...a really good release from everything I think. Apart from these I watch a lot of BBC4 and Sky Arts.
Watching sport	I watch a bit of footbal but more to keep half an eye on it.
Playing sport	Hill walking is where I get my change of pacce and scene.
Hobbies	I'm trying to learn the bass guitar at the moment but don't seem to really have the time to do it justice.

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	I would like to have developed as a human being and to have a better understanding of myself and the world.
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	Laurence Olivier, John Lennon and George Orwell.
My ideal date	A day walking in the highlands before heating up the baked beans back at the tent ...!
What would I never, ever give up?	My agency to decide what is right and what is wrong.
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	Personal awareness.
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	Early 1960s London just as the old aristocracy was about to be replaced by the new one ...David Bailey, Michael Caine, John Osborne, Brian Epstein and all the brilliant bands who created a whole new culture which belonged, for the first time, to the youth.
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	A charity dedicated to raising personal awareness in the human race.
