The Song of El Bannedido, featuring the Lovely Chezza
Senor y Senora if I may be so bold
To tell the greatest story never told
They say he's a myth this man
Famed from La Paz to Yucatan
Tequila por favor and I'll spill the beans
He was born upstairs at the local canteen
At the age of ten he stole his first burro
Then Don Pablo's prize bull El Toro
Soon he was hunted by the Federales
Fortune smiled : Adios Compadres!
With this cry he rode into the night
In a dusty cloud clean out of sight
My Amigos he was never seen again
Until one terrible night on the plains
A Pueblo was raided by Bandoleros
Then through the night came El Bannedido!
With shouts of 'Ariba!' & 'Undulay!'
The Lexicon Bandit drove them away
Danced the Fandango with the Senoritas
Drank his fill to the last centilitre
Then one fateful Cinco De Mayo
There came to town a Mariachi trio
Three men in Sombreros & masked
They played and the townsfolk danced
But when the music died out came guns
And by the light of the setting sun
They surrounded the Casa Bannedido
Calling out ''It is over amigo!''
His life it was saved by a twist of fate
As he leveled his guns to retaliate
Through the back door came Chezza
She took his arm & they ran together
Through that night and all the next day
They rode until they reached far away
Made love by the light of the camp fire
The fire was quenched but not their desire
What was two soon became one
A Phoenix rising under the sun
Now they are the stuff of fireside legend
The Princess & her Prince of Brigands
So when all is lost & theres no hope
When innocent men face the rope
Just whisper his name and have no fear;
For El Bannedido will be here!
