I GEOGRAPHY
Get your map out. I live in a small town you really don’t want to visit. It is next to a larger town you really, really don’t want to visit either. Getting the picture? If your Tom-tom had a big red AVOID button, then it would have been invented for this very place. Do a U turn as soon as it is safe

II HISTORY
A wonderful twenty solid golden years of fun and excitement, unwrapping each marvellous day at a time to discover sheer delights and enjoyment that unfolded. Then I got married and that screwed all that up!

III ENGLISH
I am only 5 ft 6, but it is better to have loved a short man, than never to have loved a tall.

IV COOKERY(20 mins and 10 mins for the quickie bag).
I have to do most of the cooking for the first time for years. I was never that bad with a fantastic signature dish of beans on toast. I am now addicted to Ready Steady Cook. Did you know that humus at 79p a tub is basically only chick peas at £1.50 a ton? They never tell you that at Waitrose.

LUNCH Speaking of which, have you any idea how easy Nan bread and Onion Bajis are to make.

V PE
I have taken up body combat. It is a class at the local LE Fatness gym. I also do occasional Spinning classes which are often filled up by the diametrically opposite of hairy bikers.

VI FRENCH
Can you speak French? Me neither? Thinking of going to evening classes to learn this or Spanish

VII GENERAL STUDIES
I write for a living. I edit a magazine about engineering.

SCHOOL REPORT
John got an A in English, A in Chemistry and a B in Maths. His teacher said it was the worst spelling he had ever seen.
