People who know me say I am honest and come across as reserved. Fortunately I am able to make people laugh by reacting to a given situation or something that is said rather than by telling jokes. I like to have a laugh and I am willing to try new things.
At present I work as a Residential Care Officer fo men with learning difficulties.
I have lived most of my life in the North East/Northumberland but as a child I lived abroad alot because my dad was in the RAF. I was born in Akrotiri, Cyprus at the RAF hospital.

I am looking for romance and the possibility of a long term relationship.
I am interested in meeting someone with the same goal. A lady who likes affection, has similar interests to me as well as her own interests and I may get along with.(I think I am being too obvious!).
I hope Midsummer's Eve will grant me the opportunity to meet someone special.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking	When I make meals for myself I tend to cook chicken or tuna with rice or pasta and veg. If I have guests I tend to do a spread. I am willing to learn.
Shopping	I don't mind shopping if it is not crowded and it doesn't take all day. I recently went shopping to buy clothes for myself.
DIY	I can paint and hang wallpaper and do very simple D.I.Y. but put it this way, I am not looking for a drill under the Christmas tree.
Housework	I keep my home quite tidy. I cannot bear dirt though(crumbs, dust) so I couldn't live in a dirty house. I sometimes put my hands over my eyes when Kim and Aggie are on.
Dining out	I love to eat out because to me it is special. You can relax and enjoy good conversation, good food, and no need to wash-up!
Movies	I am a movie buff so I love classic movies as well as new ones. I would like to see Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood.(I don't mean go to see the movie with Clint Eastwood...He is in the movie, but you knew that already).
Theatre	I saw a local play last year(forgot what it was called!) about the old West and it was funny. I have seen 'Educating Rita', The Threepenny Opera', and a modern version of Hamlet.
Music	I have an eclectic taste. The only music I struggle with is hardcore dance music, some hip-hop, and thrash metal. I am sorry ladies, but boy bands make me cringe. Everything else is fine. I tend to like music by Richard Addinsell, Max Steiner, Franz Waxman, John Williams, William Stromberg, Ennio Morricone, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Javier Navarrete, Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Maurice Jarre, Dimitri Tiomkin, John Barry, Danny Elfman, Bernard Herrman, Hans Zimmer.
Gigs	The last concert I went to I was 15. I saw the 'Beat' a two tone band I I wore my dad's bus shirt because I thought I looked cool!! I am not a fan of big crowds so the concerts I would like to see would be in beautiful settings. I saw a chamber orchestra in a local church and it was great.
Pubs	I don't go to a pub to only drink. I tend to go for a meal or to sing on the karaoke. I like bitter but I prefer wine. I am not a regular at the pub.
Clubbing	I don't go clubbing but I might go as part of a work night out. I don't think silver hair suits the funky house scene. No! I will not dye it!
Newspapers and magazines	I sometimes buy the local Gazette or a broadsheet paper like the Telegraph just to find out the lastest fashion for duck houses in Westminster.
Books	I am reading 'Kidnapped' at the moment. I like the oldies. I also like 'The Count of Monte Christo', The 'Sherlock Holmes' stories, and many others. I love the play 'Dr.Faustus' by Christopher Marlowe even though I have not seen it!
TV	'Q.I.', 'Have I got News for You'. I like some documentaries, history, art, and current affairs, and movies.
Watching sport	I love watching Athletics. I am not a football fan but I will watch the World Cup.
Playing sport	I do not participate in sports. I just enjoy walking, keeping fit, going to the gym, and hiking. I will also go swimming but I cannot do the breast stroke to save my life! Everyone overtakes me.
Hobbies	I play the guitar and I enjoy singing. I did get paid once on New Years Eve a few years ago to sing.

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	My needs are simple. I would like to find contentment in a job, to be in a happy relationship, to be healthy, and have a positive influence on people around me.
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	I would invite someone to make me laugh, someone with a vast amount of knowledge, and someone who has a vast amount of experience to share.
My ideal date	My ideal date would be an honest woman. Someone I feel a connecton with and I am attracted to. We would laugh and have similar interests, and we would be complimentary. I watched a great film(black and White) in which Claude Rains says to his wife 'A woman is only beautiful when she is loved'. I would like a date to start out great and over time result in love.
What would I never, ever give up?	I am not materialistic so I think I would never, ever give up on my children, I would rather give myself up!
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	My speech would be about the way we treat eachother. Unless we can begin to respect ourselves and others we will always despair at the attrocities and wickedness we are capable of in this world.
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	I would like to visit Florence in Italy to see the art and architecture. With regard to a time in history, I am not sure. Despite the injustices we have today I think many of us are fortunate to live in the comfort we do.
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	It would go to causes that should have been tackled anyway but are not and leave millions of people suffering with symptoms that can easily be treated e.g. cataracts. Cancer research is also important but any breakthrough should not become a profit making venture which excludes people who need treatment.
My "and finally" section ...	I wouldn't say I have a serious side, I just have a view on things, but I also have a funny side. I am just an ordinary man who seeks the same basic needs we all have and I will give 100%.
