I'm 56 years old and a widowed mother of an 18 year old son. I am sensitive, shy, clever,loyal and trusting I'm very much a home bird, but I also love Veuve Cliquot, baroque music, early choral music, opera, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Snow Patrol, sushi, red wine, Laphroaig whisky and generally the best things in life. I love history,art, antiques - I have a house crammed with books, pictures and junk. I love old glass, Masons china, antique cutlery and old jelly moulds. I have a very demanding job and like to spend free time pottering locally. I like gardens, old houses and castles.
I was born in Wiltshire, did a degree in Librarianship in Birmingham and am now a fairly senior civil servant working in Salisbury. My husband died 13 years ago from a smoking-related cancer so I am vehemently anti-smoking. I am nearly a vegetarian - I have no issues about organic meat though I dont eat it often but have a weakness for pigeon.
I love trees and quiet places. I love good food and the best chocolate.

I am hoping to meet a decent, honest, trustworthy man. Someone who wont expect me to jump through hoops. Someone who wont go off in a huff because I dont reply instantly. There are so very strange people in internet land!
