callmenic (35) from Grampian
Hi there ;-)
Good music, good company and a drop of good wine all make me happy and if all three together - then the better! I like to have fun and interesting conversation with people. I'm fairly active and enjoy the countryside and the coast and a vigorating walk is always beneficial for blasting away the cobwebs and re-energising! As well as that 2 young kids keep me constantly on the move and on my toes.
I am a senior community worker and love working with people and getting involved with anything that is interesting, stimulating and challenging and if it helps improve the development and well-being of people and places then I've done my job.
I am originally from Aberdeenshire, and after living in a few different places as a student and in my twenties I have now settled back in the north-east.
So ... I would like to meet people who are intelligent, have something to say, but not too stuck or rigid in their views. If you can be playful and like the odd adventure then that ticks my boxes. A spark is essential if it is to be anything more than a friendship ;-) ... and in terms of a relationship, I'm looking for someone to spend some time with at weekends, share a laugh and a smile with, going out or staying in and chilling, or doing something different and active. If you're honest, straight-forward, a sorted type of person (who is preferably reasonably tall!) then it would be cool to chat. I would like to get to know someone a bit through chat/email first to see if there is some compatibility, and we can take it from there :-)
About me
I'm 35 years old and come from Grampian in the United Kingdom. I'm separated with two children. I'm 5' 7" tall and of average build. I don't smoke and I drink occasionally. I'm here for dating, friendship and hobbies and interests.
My detailed facts
My hobbies and interests
Cooking
Yes I do enjoy cooking. I like recipes and foods involving local products, and also mediterranean, eastern and anything with garlic (or Baileys ice cream)!!! (but not together :-) )
Shopping
Not a big shopper. Shop out of necessity. If I have the time and money (and the two rarely collide!) I can occassionally enjoy the odd shopping trip by myself ... but don't really enjoy it as an outing or thing to do with other people. However, it is nice to acquire some new things or clothes that appeal to me, although am not a particularly materialistic person and if I can source these without too much grief then I'm happy.

DIY
Hmmmm ... happy to give anything a "bash", but know my limits. Not scared of getting my hands dirty or putting on some old scruffy clothes to get on with things, and if I can sort it myself then I will, although am far from an expert!
Housework
Well I do like the saying that only boring women keep tidy homes!!! Having said that, if things become too disorganised or cluttered then I feel frustrated and find it difficult to operate. I am homely, but not as houseproud as I would perhaps like to be, although I'd never strive to be too immaculate ... life's too short!

Dining out
I do like to eat out however with my current commitments it doesn't happen that often these days. I love good food, but if I'm going to eat out then the ambience and atmosphere of the restaraunt/pub is just as important in terms of enjoying myself ... and obviously the company I'm in is important too. I am happy to eat any sort of food really, as long as it is preferably not fast food.
Movies
I like a good film ... although am pretty rubbish at settling down to watch one by myself most of the time. Crime, thrillers, comedy, indie-films, switch-your-brain-off-films, thought provoking ... not a huge film buff ... but if it's enjoyable ...
Theatre
Love the theatre and a good foot-jangling musical. Don't manage to go that often though.
Music
Indie, rock, folk, soul, blues, a bit of country, some funk, some melancholy and moody stuff ... ...
Nick Drake, Violent Femmes, Jeff Buckley, Dusty Springfield, Teddy Thompson, The Lemonheads, Primal Scream, Smashing Pumpkins, Fleetwood Mac, Fleet Foxes, Old Crow Medicine Show, Bob Marley, The Velvettes, Martha Reeves, Nina Simone, Otis Redding ... ...
Gigs
Prefer smaller and more intimate gigs, although the odd big gig/concert on occassion is alright. Quite keen on seeing something new and different also. Love live music and laid-back festivals.
Pubs
A decent pub is good and I do like a pint!
Clubbing
Not been clubbing in a while ...
Newspapers and magazines
Mostly local press and weekend papers and the internet for other news.
Books
Bedside table just now - Shantaram (Gregory Roberts), recently read Dark Matter (Michelle Paver), love Time Traveler's Wife (Audrey Niffeneger). Always happy to read a good thriller or crime book, or something thought-provoking, poignant or philosophical.
TV
Do not have a telly! Do watch iplayer though. Too much idiot lantern is a waste of time and hate adverts.
Watching sport
Don't really watch sport. Did go to see a Roller Derby match recently which was very entertaining.
Playing sport
At the moment just archery, walking and the odd bit of swimming.
Hobbies
I'm at a bit of a loss here ... does twiddling cotton buds in your ear count?! Have recently taken up the saxophone again, am musical although not done much in years and keep meaning/hoping to get more into it all again.
