i can appear to be confidant and strong but i am naturaly quite shy..i like the simplier things in life...walks...family...friends..good music..guess that comes from being slightly worldly wise (not as in Pilgrims Progress!) and i know whats important..not from a moral standpoint but from experience. very down to earth and approachable

looking to meet new people, male & female for frendships, social activities etc. Open to meeting that'special person' but in no rush. What would they look like? well there is no blueprint..intelligance and connection are the only criteria.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking	i love good food prepared with good fresh ingrediants although i don't particularly enjoy cooking it anymore..too many years in the kitchen! love being 'cooked for' and totally appreciative! Still love baking though..fresh breads, cakes, pastry Mmmm
Shopping	Don't enjoy shopping in busy places in general, I like local shops selling fresh produce if possible.I can do supermarkets but usually at quiter times... really just don't like crowds! Still can do 'Girlie Shopping' though! usually with my daughter and interestingly crowds don't bother me if a 'bargain' beckons!
DIY	I can turn my hand to most things basic and more difficult tasks if I have instructions ( I once plumbed in a sink with the help of a book although a local builder commented afterwards that if I worked for him he'd sack me!!!) but in general unless I have to do repairs myself i usually grab the Yellow Pages
Housework	I find it therapeutic keeping a nice home but I believe in a home being a home not a show place, I have no desire to be co-ordinated and as i am quite creative random artworks or sculptures can appear. In general people who visit my home usually love it and find it peacful and restful.
Dining out	I love to eat out probably because I enjoy other people cooking for me! There is nothing finer that sharing a good meal and a bottle of wine with a special person or friends. It doesn't matter if it is a simple meal of good bread and cheese or a fine meal and fine wine.
Movies	Don't go to the cinema very often as I don't particularly like mainstream films. I do occasioally go to a cinema that shows films by less known film writers or less mainstream films.
Theatre	Love the theatre and go when ever i can afford it. Enjoy everything from local one off productions to major shows and ballet.
Music	love all music..listen mostly to classical but happily sing along to maddness and pogues and everything in between
Gigs	love live music but not fond of large crowds. Wide range of music interests so as happy to listen to the church choir at christmas, the 70's rock band in the pub, classical music, folk and blues etc.
Pubs	I prefer either the 'local' which sells real ales and I know the faces or a quite country pub.
Clubbing	No thanks...
Newspapers and magazines	Very rarely read newspapers because they infuriate me!! will occasionally read the guardian on a Saturday but it sometimes ends up in the bin before lunch time.
Books	Love my books what else can I say!
TV	Selective viewing. I enjoy drama, documentry and a good comedy. Old films especially from the Ealing Studios such as 'Whiskey Galore'.I will admit to watching Coronation Street though.well it is a comedy after all!
Watching sport	I enjoy watching Rugby, professional or local and even be to Wembly to watch the Sheffield Eagles! Enjoy motor sports particularly scrambling and trials. Muddy fields and a bit of rain never hurt anyone!!
Playing sport	Would like to do more than I do presently, was a professional runner in my early years and have done climbing and lots of walking. Recently returned to walking and horseriding and have hopes of doing more in the future.
Hobbies	I am quite creative and enjoy various arts and crafts from needlework to painting and everything in between. I want learn metal and glass work sometime in the not too distant future.Although I love music i can't play an instrument but have just bought myself a keyboard and happily making a creative racket on that!!

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	To be healthy and still enjoy the things I enjoy today..to have achieved some of the dreams I have for myself and still be inquisitive about life and people.
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	can i have just 2 and they would be the 2 hairy bikers of cooking fame...i get fun company and brilliant food otherwise it would be mother theresa..william wallace and god so he could explain it all too me over a glass of wine.
My ideal date	An ideal date would be with someone I connected with, I am romantic at heart so moonlight and crashing waves, stolls beside the river.............
What would I never, ever give up?	i could give anything and everything up apart from my children
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	abuse of power, political, work or in the home
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	I would like to experience the Roman Empire so maybe I need a few life times..it's rise..at its hight and it's fall..just because i find it so interesting and I think there is still so much we can learn today from it.
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	supporting young people who have experienced abusive childhoods
