BethLou (35) from the Vale of Glamorgan
I'm a happy, confident, honest lady - can I still say young lady - when does middle age officially kick in? Going with the as young as you feel theory - a happy, confident, honest young lady. I've had a few knocks but firmly believe in what doesn't kill us makes us stronger and that when life doesn't quite go to plan it's always for a reason even if it takes years to work out what it is! Family motto in this house - nothing too hot or too heavy and keep the flag flying even if it's the white one.
I work full time as a Nursery teacher, a professional three year old, I love it! My most important job though is full time Mum to my daughter and boss to my faithful hound. The dog came along first, the daughter some time later. Both are treasures.
I spent 10 years training and working in England and came home to Wales 7 years ago. Originally a Swansea girl I'm now the proud owner of a loving rescued house in Barry. Being back by the sea still excites me.
Well clearly I'm looking for my knight in shining armour! Well, sort of but not really. I don't need any kind of rescuing, I'm no damsel in distress. In fact I'm probably quite fiesty but in a good way! Honesty is important to me, so is friendship. I'd like to meet someone who would enjoy the day to day stuff, not be put off by the grind that can be small children, someone who would smile at all the little things little people do. I would love to be swept off my feet now and again, I think it would be fair to say I'm looking for a gentleman who will treat me as a lady. I'm not high maintenance, I believe in treating people how I would like to be treated.
I work in a pretty much female environment and I'm done with the meeting people in bars scenario so thought this is a good place to start!

My hobbies and interests

Cooking
I love to feed friends. Do a great chicken in red wine with a twist. I'll have a go at most things with a recipe. I bake a great scone. My daughter eats my spag bol til it comes out of her ears and I know the best chocolate pudding in the world, ever.

Shopping
Uh, I'm not a huge fan. My trouble is I have a figure us girls should have - i have curves in the right place which generally means buying trousers or jeans is a nightmare. When I'm on a roll with the right friend and we can stop for lunch it improves drastically!

DIY
I can sand floors, use a paintbrush, a hammer, a screwdriver, change bulbs, put up shelves, hang pictures. I don't do electrical stuff and I do get a bit girly and scared with a drill!
Housework
It's gotta be done. When I'm rich (unlikely!) I'd employ a cleaner, not because I'm lazy but because I value my time. I get in from work at 5, my girl hits the hay at 8, who feels like cleaning at half eight after you've done the essentials? But my house is tidy and it does see polish and a hoover regularly as I'm not rich yet!

Dining out
Love to eat out. Chinese, Thai, Indian, steak, Italian. Fish, chicken. Bag of chips walking along the beach.

Movies
Don't often get to the cinema but I do enjoy it. Faves - The American President, The Notebook, Shawshank Redemption, Calamity Jane (sorry!) A few Good Men, Apollo 13, How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, oh and there's one I just can't remember the name of - Sandra Bullock is a law student, Matthew whathisname is a laywer, Brenda thingy is in it that used to be in casualty and I think it's Samuel L Jackson - he's in trial for murder when some white guy rapes his daughter, oh it's going to really annoy me now!

Theatre
More of a musicals girl than plays though probably just out of habit. I've seen Les Mis, Lion King, Chitty Bang Bang, Shout, Oklahoma and lot more. Used to be a termly event when Mum visited when I was in college.

Music
Can't beat a bit of singing into the hairbrush with Chesney Hawkes accompanying! Not much I don't like apart from that thud thud beep beep stuff and rap. Playlist in car at the mo - Breaks Coop, U2, Cheryl Crow, Songs for my child (some collection thing my parents bought me) Alannis Morrisette, Robbie Williams, some 60s collection. Radio is tuned to radio 2 in the mornings.

Gigs
Never really been something I've made a habit of. I have seen Tom Jones a few times, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Michael Ball, Tori Amos, - quite an odd bunch really! I enjoy the proms/ party in the park type events.
Pubs
Enjoy meeting up with friends for a glass of wine but I'd rather enjoy it with a meal. I'm not a big drinker and haven't ever really sat about pubs of an evening unless it's to catch up with friends.
Clubbing
I do enjoy a bit of a boogie but it's been a while. I can't do out past 11ish much because I never know what the night has in store for the little lady but that is improving daily so I'm past the in bed by 9 or could turn into a pumpkin phase! It would be a once in a while night out not a weekly event for me.

Newspapers and magazines
Whichever ones the dentists waiting room or the hairdressers have in stock! Though I did buy a Jamie Oliver mag a few weeks back when I was off work poorly.
Books
Currently - Backwards in high heels - was a present of a friend. I've enjoyed a few Nicholas Sparks books, Charlotte Bingham - good family saga type books really I suppose. Alongside Charlie and Lola which is currently little ones fave!

TV
On the sky+ box - Waterloo Rd, Wild at Heart, Jamie's Dream School.
Watching sport
I enjoy a good game of Rugby and the occasional bit of Wimbledon but anything else really doesn't feature in this house.
Playing sport
I like to swim but very out of practice.
Hobbies
I'm a lapsed member of a Rugby Choir, I kinda play the flute and have a saxophone which one day I'll get to grips with. I love feeding ducks, walking my dog. Oh I'm a cross stitcher on the quiet - though it takes me ages!
