AuroraMagic (50) from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland

I am kind, & approachable. I have a very big soft center, but a harder shell that protects the inside!
I am incredibly patient with most things in my life, but when I have decided to do 'something', then I like to then get on with it immediately.

I am very unsure about meeting people like this and being so open to strangers.
I am a professional animator, I have worked in the industry since 1983.
Recently added an unrelated and more public role to my CV.
I like to analyse and think about things and ask questions. If I don't know something I will find out.
I have moderate education, and I wish I knew more.
My background is school, college, work & life. I could write a book about my life, if only I had the time!
I like nature and love beautiful scenery - also love to photograph it.
I love animals Updated - Now have 3 small little horses I husky on permanent Foster other with me and on 25th May I had to tragically put down my big Mountain dog (kidney failure).
I have Scottish ancestors but I have no Scottish accent.
My partner died in Dec 07 after 23.5 yrs of close soul mates, and so I seek friendship/s, but maybe more over time ...
I have a place in Norfolk too so sometimes I am South than North ! 'southerly'.

I hope to make a friend or two in here.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking	I like eating many varieties of food, happy to try new things. Mostly only heat things up for one, but cook on occasion ! Usually too busy to cook.
Shopping	Enjoy shopping, especially when I have money in bank. Try to get value for money. Will learn about before I buy the more expensive items and then try to get very best offer. Love quality, but rarely have enough money for it. I only every buy what I like, never follow fashions.
DIY	Pretty capable in the DIY area, renovating a property. What I don't know I learn.
Housework	I try to keep things tidy and in order normally. Work tends to come first. Do not see housework as a top priority or a 'woman's work, but I like things tidy and clean. Try to keep things efficient and easy as much as I can.
Dining out	Love to eat out ! Like all sorts of restaurants but the favorite is Italian, and my favorite meat is lamb. I like pizza and burgers though not forgetting all those wonderful desserts !
Movies	Thoroughly enjoy movies at home or at the cinema. Like action packed, crime and thought provoking movies, and I like love stories, but with recent events, 'love stories' are off the menu for a while. Some old movies are great.
Theatre	Sadly have only been a few times, but have totally enjoyed it, however I am not a big fan of panto's at all ! As with movie types, I like many, but not too keen on the 'odd arty for art sake', type one's. Like a decent story, produced well.
Music	Like a very wide variety of music, depending upon mood and what I am doing. varies from typical pop, to some classical and country, as well as rock and instrumental. A few favorite artists : Yes, Genesis, Supertramp, Eric Clapton, and many new artists too.
Gigs	Mostly listen to music while I do other things, but have been to 5 pop type concerts.
Pubs	Rarely go to pub - maybe for a meal with friend/s, or if passing or if it is recommended for it's food. Nothing against them ...
Clubbing	Rarely ever gone.
Newspapers and magazines	Newspapers: Buy some on occasion, either buy for headline stories or for gen interest. Do not buy any particular on regularly, but increasingly look online. mags Buy several on occasion everything from Cars, horses, DIY, Countryside & Animals to Photography. Occasionally subscribe to a specific magazine.
Books	Don't read a book regularly, but I refer to books a lot for reference depending on what is the latest interest. I have followed one author a fair bit Anne MacCaffery.
TV	Do watch TV - like many movies, F1 Grand Prix, NCIS, Doc Martin, some cooking programs, many movies, Top gear, The Apprentice, Desperate Housewives, House, Property shows, News, Question Time. Like listening to the radio (BBC radio 2 / Capital Radio).
Watching sport	F1 grand Prix - some horse jumping - tennis - but rather be doing things myself. No interest in football and I am tired of football updates everywhere at every opportunity - sorry chaps !
Playing sport	walking, cycling, going for car drives, when I can: horse riding & tennis. Like table tennis & squash but have not done that in a while. Would love to do car racing / hill climbs, but not got the money.
Hobbies	Like Cactus & Aroid plants, Herpetology, painting / art, photography, painting Driving is a big passion. :)

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	Well that's a question 10 yrs time, - be happy in whatever I am doing, and where ever I may be.
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	Three people to a diner party : my late partner (all I need really) but to answer, Leonardo da Vinci, Sigmund Freud and Peter Cook.
My ideal date	The ideal date : Filled with a good meal, movie and then a drive, with good conversation and some humour.
What would I never, ever give up?	I would say never say never. If we have to do something then we become accustomed to that. I have no big vices, but I love driving, and now-a-days the internet and my mobile phone would be high up on that list. Communication is such a huge God send, and makes easy connection to many, so easy. What a privilege!
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	Driving .... my (WWII), renovation project .... horses & dogs that way everyone might enjoy bits of it !
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	Hawaii, fancy looking at the fabulous scenery and sipping a cocktail on the beech ! Then there are the Pyramids and the Inca location in Argentina & Peru, Egypt, Italy, Greece, New Zealand ...
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	I would have to be sure that it was not going to be squandered ! Hate Charities that waste money! But - An educational establishment, that would encourage and help with driving / riding standards. That, or for horses.
My "and finally" section ...	Whilst I only rarely wear glasses for reading it is extremely rare that I need them. I hope to control my eating habits better and take total control of my weight as a consequence. I can never have kids. Never assume anything always ask no matter how silly or trivial it may seem. :)
