Aurora (57) from Derbyshire
Welcome to my profile! Thanks for your interest.
I'm an easy-going, adaptable and flexible woman, uncomplicated, without baggage or hidden agendas, possibly a touch eccentric, idealistic and extremely optimistic.
I love life, nature, our planet, my son, good company, witty men, rediscovering the joys of past pursuits, reconnecting with old friends, freedom, fresh air, the great outdoors, my garden, contentment, peace and magic.
I enjoy walking, motoring, travelling, exploring, picnics in scenic spots, diving and snorkelling off the south coast, computers, writing, bursting into song, cooking for friends...
A good friend says, "food always tastes better when shared with friends" - how true!
I'm completely outside the box, with an open mind, though not so open that my brains could fall out.
I'm a bit spiritual (not religious!), drawn to unexplained phenomena and quirky stuff, sensitive, sensual and sensuous, passionate about my interests.
All my friends will agree that I'm sincere, loyal, reliable, trustworthy and benevolent.
I have faith and tend to trust everyone. However, if I am betrayed, I will sadly walk the other way and never give the rogue a second chance to betray my trust or hurt me again.
I dislike mind games and blackmail, but have no time to hate or whinge or dwell on regrets, because there's so much to look forward to tomorrow, and time waits for no one.
I'm looking for friends and terrific people (of all ages, men and women) to share activities and socialise with, though I'm also very private and tend not to declare blow-by-blow details of my life, nor indulge in gossip.
Most of all, I'm seeking a soulmate - the ultimate companion to travel with and share lots of laughter and joy with.
But hurry!
Time is limited, so click your mouse and apply - before your chance runs out.
Now is really the best time!!!
A warm, sexy soulmate...
who loves but never hates,
a happy man with more smiles than frowns,
an optimist with both feet on the ground,
someone full of get-up-and-go,
much too nice to say "I told you so",
a curious nature and a wide open mind,
caring, careful and always kind,
but not afraid to take a chance
of thoroughly enjoying a fine romance....
Tactile, sensual, never need to pretend.
As the circle of life has no end.
I am discovering true friends
Before the Mayan calendar ends,
I hope my soulmate will be beckoning
As the new era is now beginning.

My detailed facts
My hobbies and interests
Cooking
Love cooking -- learned some secrets of top chefs around the world. Been collecting native cookbooks everywhere I've travelled. No particular favourite styles -- I'll cook anything... wholesome Westcountry cuisine, Scottish, German, spicy Mediterranean, Mexican and American, authentic Chinese (various regions), Persian, Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistani, Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian and Nonya; bake cakes, biscuits and pastry; make jam, chutneys and fruit liqueurs. Fast foods have their place, but can never beat fresh and healthier meals. I love sharing meals with friends.

Shopping
I enjoy window-shopping and browsing in markets and car-boot sales, but I don't need retail therapy. I like buying fresh food from markets and farmers' markets, and quality bargains from good supermarkets.
DIY
I am a handywoman, with my own power tools, tool shed - and first-aid kit!
I can assemble flat-pack furniture and fit shelves, and fix things in the garden. As long as a project does not require brute strength, I'll try to tackle it. However, I'll always accept a helping hand most graciously and reward my handyman with lots of cups of tea and treats!

Housework
Life is much too short to spend all my time indoors, hoovering and polishing. Stoves are for cooking, chairs are for sitting in, sinks are for washing dirty dishes in -- and life is for living without stress or guilt.
Can anyone live comfortable lives inside show homes? Do I care?
But to each his/her own.
For me, there's a huge world out there to explore and lots to do while the weather is fine and the sun shines, so I'll keep my home clean and place things where I will find them. Friends come to visit me, not to inspect the French polish on my dressers.
Dining out
I enjoy dining out or eating in, with good company. I love exploring intriguing places, rustic country pubs and quaint restaurants. Good food does not have to be expensive. I can enjoy any kind of food except offal.
Movies
Movies are fun. I enjoy science fiction and fantasy, blockbusters, high-tension thrillers, horrors with a twist (not gratuitous blood and gore) and witty (not slapstick) comedies.
Theatre
Yes, please, let's go to the theatre to watch a good drama or musical -- or a rock concert!
Music
Music is part of my life -- I play it on my ghetto blaster, laptop, car stereo, music channel on TV, everywhere. I enjoy a wide repertoire, most kinds of music according to my moods. I'll often sing along -- please join me! In the car, I favour alternative and progressive rock, by Muse, Bluetones, Feeder, Weezer, Green Day, and Indy bands. Late in the evenings, I chill with celtic sounds, crooners with powerful sensuous voices, or unwind with classics... Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Borodin, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Strauss or the operas.
Gigs
Gigs are great fun, in upbeat company, especially with an outstanding headlining band or entertaining singer -- Green Day, Manic Street Preachers, Robbie Williams or Muse. Tribute bands playing live in pubs are most enjoyable too.
Pubs
I'm not a regular pub goer, but in good company, I'd happily join in a pub event, quiz night, listen to live music, or just sit enjoy a witty chat and a few laughs with good company.
Clubbing
Clubbing is not really my scene -- you can't hear yourself speak and it's usually too dark to see anyone. It's not my first choice for an evening out.
Newspapers and magazines
I used to work for newspapers and magazines, so I used to read them free everyday.
These days, I get all my news online from the BBC, Reuter, Bloomberg and news feeds via Google. I do like to know what's happening in the great wide world, but not obsessively.
Books
I love reading. I used to devour books during my salad days, and was a literary editor with my own weekly book reviews page. But my reading habit is erratic now, mainly due to work demands on my time.
I have also written a non-fiction book, published in 1996.
TV
I watch TV, late in the evening, while checking email on my laptop -- mostly sci-fi (Heroes, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Stargate, Sanctuary, Star Trek, V), fantasy (Legend of the Seeker, Merlin) and thrillers (CSI, NCIS, Prime Suspect) or a good movie. They help me unwind after a long day and provide background company when the rain keeps me indoors.
But no soaps and no reality shows! -- they're too inane.
Watching sport
Only special sporting events, such as the Olympics highlights, if there's nothing better on the box.
Playing sport
I am a longbow archer and a scuba-diver in British waters during warmer weather. I also enjoy walking in scenic places with my camera.
Hobbies
My passion is photography. I never travel without my Panasonic Lumix FZ7 camera. I still have my Olympus OM1 SLR film camera. I used to earn extra cash by writing photography supplements for newspapers.
I enjoy going to airshows and Formula One motorsports events too -- been on first name terms with some F-1 drivers.
I grow fruit and veggies, and scented in my garden. I love plants, nature and wildlife, hand-feeding wild birds and swimming with deep-sea fish.
Crystals fascinate me. So do legends and myths and I'd travel off the beaten track in search of some quirky places, especially if there's a chance to photograph something weird.
