I'm a busy mum of two teenagers who are at that stage when they no longer want to spend time with me, freeing me up to start enjoying spare time. I run my own small business which keeps me out of mischief and have a good circle of friends who all seem to be in relationships.

I come from Northern Ireland but have lived in England since 1981. (It's a long story!) I'm very active, keep fit (vanity not pleasure)and love walking, gardening and my home. I am very capable when it comes to DIY but would appreciate the company of 'a man who can'(only for consultation purposes). Since becoming single I have begun experimenting with cooking and am an expert with hollandaise sauce!!!

I am looking for a good companion. Someone to share the good times with. It would be great if they had similiar interests to mine but at the same time I'm always happy to try new experiences provided they are not life threatening...lol!

I enjoy my surroundings and the simple things in life and would appreciate this in a partner.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking	Cooking I love it! Enjoy eating it too! Try to keep it healthy but who can say no to sticky toffee pudding?
Shopping	Love to browse but not shopping under pressure.
DIY	I am probably the only woman you know who has her own jigsaw and can always locate screwdrivers etc.
Housework	I love my home and it is always a work in progress. I like my home to be organised and tidy but I'm not obsessive.
Dining out	Love fine dining but can live with prezzos etc. I don't have any particular favourite foods and will try most things.
Movies	Love chick flicks and action/thrillers - anything with a good plot.
Theatre	Not a big theatre goer! Wouldn't say no to it but just haven't been to many shows.
Music	Soft rock is probably a good description of my musical tastes. A big U2 fan and still am. Would love to see Kings of Leon. On the other hand I'm also rather fond of Leonard Cohen

Pubs	Enjoy pubs but not clubs. Like to be able to hold a conversation and not go to bed with a strange ringing sound in my ears
Clubbing	Clubbing - I hate it!
Newspapers and magazines	Rarely read newspapers- don't have time for a daily. I have a regular subscription to a home magazine and will read any trashy thing left lying about by my daughter (I can't believe some of the stuff they put in these)
Books	Just reading a Lynda La Plant thriller at the moment. Favourite book - Wilbur Smith's River God.
TV	I regularly end up watching whatever the kids want to watch but if I have a choice it would be things like Grand Designs, Come dine with me (hilarious) . Enjoy Shameless, The Inbetweeners, Greenwing any historical or nature programs.
Watching sport	I'm happy to watch 'big matches' football or rugby. I regularly spend Sunday morning on the side of a football pitch in support of my son.
Playing sport	No I don't really enjoy participating.
Hobbies	I think I've already covered the things I love to do and no I don't have any bizarre hobbies or interests. Always happy to give things a go though!

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	Hopefully in 10 years time I will have more spare time and hope to spend it travelling and enjoying my family.
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	Spike Milligan - for his incredible wit Ricky Whittle - for his amazing good looks Osama Binladen - at least we'd know where he is at last
My ideal date	I'm really not hard work - so I'd just enjoy a date with someone relaxed, warm and human!
What would I never, ever give up?	My umbrella- I hate getting wet!
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	Taking responsibility for your own actions/political correctness and waste of funds by government bodies.
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	New Zealand would be on top of my list - the scenery in Lord of the Rings was breathtaking. Egypt would also be a hot favourite - my favourite book was River God based in Egypt at the time of the Pharohs - was it really like that?
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	It's really hard to choose a charity amongst so many but it would probably go to one which helps underprivilaged children.
