alchemist (68) from Oxfordshire

Once upon a time, long, long ago (but I'm sure the birth certificate was dated at least 20 years too soon) the King and Queen of a land far across the sea (The Isle of Wight) had a bouncing baby boy. His dark flowing locks were the envy of all who set eyes upon him but angered the Wicked Witch of the Wight who vowed to seek her revenge. The young Prince grew up to be a fine handsome young man and sailed across the vast ocean to seek fame and fortune, and also to escape the attentions of the wicked witch.

One in England his scientific skills became much in demand, especially after he had spent many happy years at Universities (where he also studied at times). Moving to the Banbury area he soon put his talent in Chemistry to use in a local research laboratory and made many a wondrous discovery. After a while however his company felt that they were no longer good enough to employ him and gave him his freedom and a little bit of money. By now he liked living in a little village a few miles from town so he invested his wealth in retraining in complementary therapies and opened his own clinic and even passed his talents on to others for many years at a University in the big city down the road.

By now he had met his Princess and her lovely daughters who did not seem to mind that the last spell of the Wicked Witch had finally worked and his shining locks were (virtually) no more. There was much happiness and laughter in the home until the day the angels came for his Princess. They took her but left many happy memories.

Knowing that he had to move forward he enjoyed his many hobbies, stayed involved in village life, kept himself fit and active and grew many succulent vegetables in his garden. Occasionally a lady would enter his life for a while but some of them were not entirely honest and he didn’t like that. Believing that there was someone out there with whom there could be mutual happiness he kept smiling and he posted his details on the MSE and soon his mail box was brim full of e-mails from gorgeous young ladies seeking his company.

There, wasn’t that a lovely fairy story?
