I have recently had the undeserved good fortune to become attached to another wonderful woman, so I'm no longer looking for romance or dating with anyone else.

I'm a retired teacher of English, Drama, Media Studies, Library Skills and Information Technology. I spent 37 years teaching youngsters aged 11 to 19, but when I saw that the actuarial tables show that male teachers who retire at 60 can expect on average to live another 18 years whereas those who retire at 65 only have an average of 18 months, I decided to retire aged 59. That was 3 years ago.

My wife and I decided to move on to a 70' narrowboat and tour the country visiting friends and exploring. A day after we moved aboard she was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, and told that she had only months and weeks to live. She was the bravest person I've ever known, but she died a year ago. Her last instruction to me was to live and be happy. I'm ready to try.
