About me

I organise and participate in charity events, sponsored cycle rides, walks, fetes, concerts, presentation nights, kurryoke nights, that's karaoke with curry, and any other zany events that raise the profiles of lesser known charities.
In my ‘spare’ time I do carpentry, fencing and general building work, renovating old furniture, and arboreal work, after years working in the construction and demolition industry.
I believe everything happens for a reason. Que sera, sera.

I enjoy reading, writing, especially short stories, learning, and having a good debate (it is not the knowing what to say, it is the knowing when not to say) usually brought about by my outlook on life, my sense of humour, which is often misunderstood, and taste of music, which varies from the dulcet tones of Enya to the simplicity of Woodie Guthrie and the raw heavy rock of Dragonforce.

I love animals of all kinds, especially dogs.
My pet is my best mate, *Ratty the Staffy*. That’s him down there. I didn’t purchase him as a status symbol or trophy; I was his salvation from abandonment and a certain watery grave when he being only a few weeks old.

My hobbies include breeding budgies, cooking, photography and walking the canals and countryside with Ratty.

My pet hate is modern architecture.

I have found through studying the life of John Harrison that horology is a very fascinating pastime, along with modern history and the views of Epicurus.

A lighthouse in the distance,
Waves crashing on the sand;
The haunting song of the ocean,
Kissing the soft, dry land.
He stands in the shadow of moonlight,
Absorbing nature's song;
Quiet, deep, reflective,
He stands there and he longs.
He longs for something he can't touch,
For what will make him whole;
Gazing 'cross the storm tossed waves,
The wind becomes his soul.

At times the wind within his soul,
Is peaceful, calm and sure;
Tonight it thunders with the waves,
As he stands and thinks of her.
He knows she's out there somewhere,
For he hears her song within;
In the beauty of a storm tossed night,
In the whisper of the wind.
Turning, walking quietly,
Leaving footprints in the sand;
He walks in dreams into the night,
A solitary man.

I am desperately trying to give up the weed, having already pulled all my hair out, but I'm getting there!

About you

Friends who know who you are, understand where you've been, accepts what you have become, and still invites you to grow.
Someone who won't begin to talk behind your back when you leave the room.
Someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
Who knows where the path of friendship will lead?
