What makes a good profile? Short and sweet so I understand. Well that describes me in stature and temperament (ahem!).

I'm always interested in what others have to say, how they view the world and what makes them laugh. It's just as well because my work with people who are going through tough times is something I feel passionate about. I tend to be private and contained but that doesn’t mean shy. I spend a lot of my time listening, something I feel I'm good at, yet I can talk up a storm when the topic and company feels right.

There are a lot of things that I feel the "wow!" factor about, for instance, how small sheep look when seen against a backdrop of mountains or the string of pearls around coastlines that city lights make when seen from an aircraft. I'm not keen on cold weather; I feel the cold and dislike being bundled up in multiple layers of restrictive clothing.

I've a wide range of interests, including theatre, the arts, bargain hunting, earth sciences and music. My favorite music is blues, rock, Celtic and classical but I can be persuaded to listen to most anything that has a good drum and bass rhythm. I like to dance although I could do with a few lessons that would create some structure and discipline.

Update: dancing (and hillwalking) aren't an option for me any more. Rheumatoid arthritis has slowly reduced my mobility. Ah well,there are worse things in life.


I'm not rich in the material sense although I feel rich. I keep the roof over my head and have all that I need rather than what I might want. I have a love of nature. I don't claim to be mystic or psychic or any other -ic although I'm mindful of a this quote by Huxley, "I'm too much of a sceptic to deny the possibility of anything".

Friendship is very important to me (it saves me from talking to myself). Those I gel with have the quality of being thinkers, open to debate, accepting of others and able to find the positive in the most difficult of situations.

I haven't included dating as part of my criteria but that doesn't mean to say I'm averse to it. I just believe a good relationship begins on the foundation of friendship.
