What is Essentials?
Essentials is a brilliant goody bag of extra features we've designed to make Midsummer's Eve even more fun.
You'll get unlimited messaging, so you can chat all day to new friends and potential dates.
You can find out who's been checking out your profile, who's made you a favourite or blown you a kiss. You'll get the trusted member label and you'll be able to upload tons more photos.

Why should I purchase Essentials?
Let's face it, upgrading your account is purely optional and there's a lot you can get from this site without it. But we have worked hard to bring you some superb fun features that you'll really enjoy and will make your membership go much further.
At the same time you'll be helping to support the work we do here, helping to keep our servers running and our hardworking staff in tea and biscuits. It's the only way we have of raising the money to fund advertising to get more and more great people on board for you to meet. Essentials is just as essential to us as it is to you!
How much does Essentials cost?
Very little! Prices start about the cost of a round of drinks but you'll get much more than one night's worth of fun! (And no hangover the next day). We often have special deals running, and longer memberships such as six months and one year offer fantastic savings over shorter memberships. How do I upgrade to Essentials?
Go to our Essentials page and choose the membership you want. Memberships come in varying lengths and types. You can pay by WorldPay (secure payment provider, part of the Bank of Scotland) using your credit or debit card - we accept Visa, Visa Delta, JCB, Switch, Maestro, MasterCard, Solo and Electron cards. For one-off memberships we accept PayPal; and you don't have to already have a PayPal account to pay using PayPal. Just follow the instructions on-screen. You can also pay by cheque or postal order.
Essentials and repeat billing
We offer both one-off memberships and subscriptions. One-off memberships are a single payment for a set period, and we cannot and will not take any further payments from you after this expires. If you want to continue your Essentials membership, you would need to make another payment. Subscription memberships are repeat billing memberships, wherein we will take the same amount of money from you each period until you cancel.
When will my Essentials membership start?
Straight away! We know you'll be keen to get going and start using the Essentials features, so as soon as your payment is authorised your account will be automatically upgraded there and then with no waiting.
How do I cancel Essentials?
You can cancel your payments at any time. You'll still be able to enjoy your full Essentials services up until the last day of your current subscription period.
WorldPay users only: If you pay by WorldPay you can cancel online via this web site. To cancel now, please go to the cancellation page.
PayPal users only: If you pay by PayPal we cannot stop your PayPal subscription for you - you must cancel your PayPal subscription yourself. This is because we do not have the username and password required to break into your PayPal account and start or stop subscriptions on your behalf, and PayPal provides no automatic way for us to cancel your subscription. Here is the information taken from PayPal's help pages to help you stop your PayPal subscription:
- Log in to your PayPal account.
- Click History at the top of the page.
- Select Subscriptions from the Show menu.
- Check the From box and change the date back 2 years.
- Click Search.
- Click Details to view the details of a specific Subscription Creation.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
- Click Cancel Subscription again.
Please note that closing your account with us does not stop your PayPal subscription - for the reasons stated above. No refunds will be given on PayPal overpayments that occur due to your failure to stop your own PayPal subscription.
