Channel 4 adoption series
Your chance to participate in this important documentary series
27-Jul-2008
My name is Hannah and I work for 'betty tv', a television production company. We
are making a series all about adoption for Channel 4 and are looking for single
parent families who would be willing to help us prepare want-to-be adopters for
the reality of becoming parents. You don't have to have anything to do with
adoption to be involved.
We are looking for families to take part in a parenting weekend in August - the
aim is to give the adopters we are working with practical experience of looking
after children for a weekend, under careful supervision and support from
parents.
All of our adopters are very different and one of them is a single adopter.
Their adoption agency feels they would benefit from talking to single parents
about the rewards and challenges of bringing up children without a partner - and
so we are specifically looking for a single parent and their children (aged
4-11) to get involved. This is a sensitive documentary about adoption and all
the issues that surround it.
We are working with the Northamptonshire County Council Adoption Team, The St
Francis Children's Society and Parents for Children. The British Association of
Adoption and Fostering are consulting on the project. We need the help of people
like you to raise awareness the subject and help the adopters get the best
possible preparation for becoming parents. If you'd like to find out more please
